The Potty

So we tried potty training again. In about 12 hours of wearing only "Big Boy Underwear" the score was POTTY --2 UNDERWEAR -- 6. How did this all begin AGAIN??? Well... we have been playing up the potty thing a lot lately and finally I guess it stuck. Last Sunday they called me out of Relief Society because he had to go potty. He didn't actually go but he sat there. Then, we came home from church and took off the diaper. Nothing.... He wore them for a couple hours then went back to diapers, and there was only one casualty.

Monday we decided to stay home and try that underwear thing again. We actually did have success. He went in the potty. YEAH!!! I was so excited. 2 Fridays ago we went to the library and checked out some videos. He picked Blues Clues and fell in love with it. For those of you who don't know what that is it is a T.V. show for preschoolers that is mostly cartoon graphics of a blue dog. They play a game called "Blues Clues" where 3 clues are given about something Blue wants to do or see or whatever. To show what the clue is a big blue paw print is on the object of the clue. The clues are written down in the "Handy Dandy Note Book".

What does this have to do with anything??? So, since he likes Blue I made up some blue paw prints a few nights later and then taped three around the house. 2 were on the stair banister and one on the table where under it was a notebook.

So, when he went potty I put a blue paw print on the bathroom wall. Now, I thought that was a wonderful incentive/reward but he wanted it off of the wall and in his hand. One of the two is still up. He did eventually go potty a second time.
