The Jelly Belly Factory

Some of the MBA Spouses who are in the area for the summer got together and went to the Jelly Belly Factory. It was nice, however, it was a long day. On the drive up there I didn't get lost. That was a total Surprise! We got there and had an expensive lunch but my salad was tasty. We stood in line for about 30 minutes and the kids started getting restless. One of the moms had some quarters and there were gumball machines filled with jelly beans. Before we got in line I jokingly said that we can put them on a fixed schedule of reinforcement. OK, so I had just taken my Psych final. Anyway, the mom laughed but in a weird, kinda, "yeah right you geek."
That is what we did. Danny responded well for the next 20 minutes while we waited in line. Finally we got to go in. He wasn't thrilled but once we got to the robots he thought it was cool.
Have you seen the show "Unwrapped"? It was like that show except not as good seats.
The show takes tours of different food/candy manufacturing plants and show you how they make stuff. It reminds me of the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood tour of the crayon factory, my ultimate favorite episode.
They showed us the manufacturing boxes and conveyor belts and candy going in trays and coating process and there were some videos that gave you info but I didn't really pay attention to them because Danny was busy at the front of the line running around and I had to make sure he didn't get into trouble. Man, I'm such a mom!!! Once we got to the robotics section Danny was mesmerized. He thought it was really cool. As the group continued walking he kept looking through the window at the robots.
On the way out you go through the candy shoppe. Yes, I bought some. They did give us each a small package of jelly bellys (mine went to Justin) and I got some for me. I tried the sour ones and they were all ok EXCEPT for Watermelon. YUCK!!! The other standards were fine too. They did have the interesting flavors there too but I didn't get any. Toothpaste, earwax, grass, pepper, vomit, and about 15 others.
On the way home Danny fell asleep and the car ride was quiet. Ahhhhh! Quiet.
