Catch Up

For 4 months I haven't made a post and there is a lot to catch up on. I've been busy with school and and Danny and just procrastinated doing it because there would be so much catch up to do in order to eventually print my blog into a book. I finally decided that I am going to skip those 6 months and go right to what is going on now.

We had a wonderful vacation with Justin's family. Every 3 years all of the kids and grand kids meet in The Outer Banks, North Carolina for a week long vacation in a BIG beach house. We had such a great time! All of the kids got along really well and had a lot of fun playing with their cousins. We spent most of our time at the pool and the beach just relaxing and having fun together. Unfortunately my next Psych class started so I had lots of reading and homework to do. I also managed to get a book "The Last Song" and make a good dent in it. It takes place near where we were vacationing. It is a really good, clean book and it was recently made into a movie.
The house we stayed in had 8 bedrooms plus a little nook in the bottom where Ethan stayed. There was an elevator for luggage and grocery use only. I was a little bit concerned about this because Danny LOVES elevators. 3 years ago when we all went he wasn't tall enough to open the outer door but he would just stand in front of it hoping it would open. This time he knew and understood that he couldn't go in it and he was O.K. with that. The house was really nice. It had a deck on the top and you could see the ocean and the pool below. I think one of the best features of the house was that there were 2 dishwashers. There were so many of us that I think there was always one almost full or one being cleaned. The basement had a pool table and a Foosball table. The boys took the pool balls and rolled them across the table into the pockets. I don't think they knew that you use pool sticks to play the game. They never came off of the wall. I think that would be one of Danny's favorite things. He and Jason loved the pool table balls. All 3 of Justin's sisters are pregnant so the next time we get together there will be at least 3 additions, maybe a wife for Cameron, and if we are lucky a baby for us.

We are moving to Louisiana near New Orleans in about 5 weeks. I don't have any of the details yet but Justin is on another temporary assignment for around 6 months. What an adventure!!!!! I never expected to be moving this much. I figured that technically, this will be the 13th move in 13 years. What is sad is that twice we lived for 3 consecutive years in one place. It will be interesting to see first hand what the Gulf Oil Spill looks like and how it affects the people down there.

Hatteras Lighthouse

Hatteras Lighthouse

It was a beautiful day so we decided to go to Cape Hatteras to climb the lighthouse. Danny had never been there before and it was 12 flights up. At the very top is an observation area but if the wind is over 40mph they close that and you only get to look out of a window one flight below. Heather and Abram didn't go up with because you had to be a certain height and be able to walk up the whole thing by yourself. Grandma and Grandpa looked in the book store/gift shop and Andy rode his bike there.

I am so proud that I made it all the way up. I was up there for about 2 minutes when they said they were going to close the observation area down. We had enough time for Jordan to take our picture and me to snap off a couple of the landscape. By the time I got down my legs were shaky. After our adventure we met up with Megan, Andy, and Jason and Grandma and Grandpa and had lunch nearby. After our lunch we went for a drive and Danny fell asleep in the car. YEAH!!! So, Justin and I took turns going into a couple shops just to look around. We ended up going to this cute little st0re where I got a necklace and a blown glass globe. I collect blown glass work but what was unique about this was that before they sealed it all the way up they put sand and shells inside of it. It is mostly clear but in the back of the globe there were swirls of blue, light green, and pink that looked like waves. Before we left Danny woke up and wanted to go in. Justin showed him the marble turtle he was going to buy for his Mom and Danny said that I should get a turtle too. It was a wonderful day!

Me and my Family

Right before going on vacation with Justin's family, my Mom, Marta and I went with Gretchen to the Washington D.C. temple. We had such a wonderful time. When we got home Alex had made a delicioso (As Danny would say) delicious dinner.

Just as a side note, Danny is really into speaking Spanish right now. Thank you Handy Manny. Unfortunately I don't remember a lot of Spanish but my basic conversational skills seem adequate. He only knows a couple words like Danada, PorFavor and Delicioso. Danny made up a new word. Deliocioso is his favorite word so when I told him that Milk in Spanish was leche he said it was Delecheoso. I though that was really cleaver. I hope you all check out this youtube video. You will have to cut and past this into your browser. (Select all instead of just copy) http:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngRq82c8Baw

Being with my momn, brother and sisters was so much fun, especially since Marta was on a "happy pill" and she was so exhausted and slap happy. One of the benefits of Marta coming was that she brought Maizy with her. At first, Danny almost seemed scared to hold her. He was definately curious but it took some encouragement to get him to touch her. My reaction to Maizy was surprising. I was worried that I woud be upset and not want to hold her but quite the opposite was true. I enjoyed holding her and although it hurt a little bit I felt really happy and at peace.
