We saw the Bird's Nest from a distance. It was minus 5 degrees C and we didn't want to get out and walk to it. We did ask them to drive us to the Water Cube and got out and took a photo there but we jumped out and then jumped back in pretty quick. We had a nice lunch with a 15 minute dancing show. It was O.K. The picture in the bottom middle is Emily and her son Mookey. They were with us for the first 3 days and then they went back to the Philippines. Emily is a doctor that works in the Coca-Cola factory in Mindanao. She is so nice and her son is very funny. After lunch we went to a Silk Factory. They showed us the cocoon and took out the dead silk worm. They then take the cocoon and spread it out over two sticks then take 30 of those and stretch them out to make one layer of a blanket or clothing. For a blanket, they layer them on top of each other. The other obligatory stop was a pearl factory. It was interesting to find out how they get the pearls. They grow them in fresh water and I always thought that each clam has one pearl. Actually they can have up to 20. We can get them really cheap here so we listened to their presentation and then left.
