We decided to go to Intramuros, the place where the freedom fighter Jose Rizal died. It is the oldest part in Manila built in 1606 by the Spaniards and was the center of political, military, and religious. In 1942 the Japanese attacked and took control of Manila until 1945 when the U.S. bombed Intramuros and killed 30,000 Japanese soldiers.
