Malta was our final port of call before we went back to Barcelona and then home to Kuwait. We arrived in Malta at about 10:00 in the morning and the views of the city fortication as we came into port were amazing. The top deck and outside balconies were full of everyone enjoying the view.
The tour guide shared with us a lot about the history of the islands and the previous rulers the Phoenicians, Romans, Fatimas, Knights of Saint John, Sicilians, French, and British. The island nation of 400,000 received its independence from the United Kingdom in 1964 and became a republic about 10 years later. The country has taken something from each of these cultures which has created a very neat place and a unique culture. We walked through the impressive and beautiful town of Medina, got a local pastry cake, enjoyed the cities great archetecture; it is known for its great door hangers and hardware of which some are family crests. The photo of Danny is in front of an Olive tree.
