Our next stop was a taxi to the Trevi Fountain. We took some photos here and also threw coins into the fountain. Rachel and Justin each threw in one coin which means we should come back to Rome. Daniel threw two coins which means he should find the love of his life; Mommy said “that is me!” We walked from the fountain thru the street of Rome and had lunch at a street side café. Daniel and Justin had a pizza panni type sandwich which was really yummy. Rachel had a diet coke and another sandwich. We then picked up some postcards and a fridge magnet (we got a fridge magnet from every place, which is a continuation of a family tradition we started long ago) We then all walked to the Pantheon and got some nice pictures of this Roman Domed structure. We also used the bathrooms across the plaza in the McDonalds before rushing back to our bus. We had to meet the bus by 4:00pm and we made it with no time to spare as we were the last ones on the bus. If we didn’t make the bus it was a 200 euro ride back to the port via taxi.
On the night we got back from Rome we ate at the Papa’s Italian Restaurant on the ship. This was a fitting way to end the day as the ship was sailing out of port from Italy. This was one of the speciality restaurants on board the ship that charged and extra fee. One noticeable difference other than the ambiance was that the wait staff was more attentive than the regular wait staff – both were good however. The other thing was that the alfredo sauce in the Garden Café buffet was watery and not nearly as good as the specialty restaurant.
